Manchester reintroduces Casablanca direct flights

A direct service has been reintroduced from Manchester to Casablanca, with Moroccan national carrier Royal Air Maroc to operate three flights a week.

The flights, which were last offered before the pandemic, will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Lucie Hinton, Manchester airport’s head of aviation business development, called Casablanca a “really exciting destination”, adding: “It showcases modern Morocco alongside more traditional sights alongside a fantastic seafront that also means it benefits from a cool breeze. On top of this, it’s a great base for further exploration of Morocco.”

The flights, which take around three hours, 30 minutes, will operate in addition to the existing services to Marrakech.

Zoubida Smahi, Royal Air Maroc’s general manager for the UK, said: “Casablanca has reaffirmed its role as a commercial hub and a strategic gateway to sub-Saharan Africa.

“As the leading company in West Africa, the Moroccan national carrier aims at placing the African continent at the forefront of global connectivity with a focus on facilitating business travel, family visits and tourism.

“As a major key player in the region, Royal Air Maroc takes pride in its membership of the oneworld Alliance, bringing even more destinations and benefits for oneworld’s frequent flyers and smoother transfers for passengers travelling across all member airlines.”
