Passengers complain of Gatwick check-in delays over weekend

Passengers complained of long queues at Gatwick over the weekend due to a technical fault with self-service check-in equipment.

Many took to social media to highlight the problem with some claiming to have been caught up in queues of up to 90 minutes.

Delays started on Saturday but overflowed into Sunday.

Gatwick said on Twitter on Saturday: “If you are travelling from Gatwick today please be prepared for some delays at check-in due to a technical issue affecting our self-service bag drop machines.

“We are working with the super to rectify this as soon as possible. Please contact your airline with any queries.”

The airport blamed the system of a third party that operates the self check-in kiosks for the problem and apologised to affected passengers.
