Rail connections to London area airports hit by strike action

Rail passengers face a fresh phase of strike action by train drivers today (Monday) with the Gatwick Express among services affected.

The shuttle service between London Victoria and the airport will not run while trains between London Liverpool Street and Stansted will be restricted to hourly departures.

No Thameslink services will be running, except for a limited non-stop service between London Kings Cross and Cambridge and a shuttle service between London St Pancras, Luton and Luton Airport Parkway.

Today’s 24-hour walkout affects c2c, Greater Anglia, GTR Great Northern, Thameslink, Southeastern, Southern/Gatwick Express, South Western Railway main line and depot drivers, and SWR Island Line on the Isle of Wight.

This is the least stage of rolling one-way industrial action covering 16 trains companies which started on Friday.

However, action by London Underground drivers today and in May have been called off.
