Resilience Council to host sustainability programme at Arabian Travel Market

The Global Travel and Tourism Resilience Council is to host a series of sessions at Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, with a focus on advances, challenges and opportunities in sustainable tourism.

The 12 sessions will feature more than 30 international speakers representing leading brands including Amadeus, Booking.com, MasterCard, Travelport, Travelzoo, Tui, Intrepid, Radisson, ICF and Mabrian.

They will be joined by representatives of national governments including Jamaica, Seychelles, Indonesia and Egypt at the event, which takes place from May 1-4 and has a particular focus on sustainability ahead of Dubai’s hosting of the Cop28 Summit.

Further insight will be offered by global associations including the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and the Climate and Conservation Consortium.

Topics to be covered in the sessions curated by the Resilience Council will include government approaches to tackling climate change, the debate around carbon offsetting and strategies and the relationship between sustainability and profitability for the travel and tourism sector.

They will also cover subjects including technology as a driver for sustainability in the industry, maritime tourism and conservation and how governments can partner with businesses and brands to further their sustainable goals.

The sessions will begin with a keynote ministerial roundtable moderated by CNN’s Eleni Giokos, and will continue across three stages.

Laurie Myers, global strategist for the Resilience Council, said: “In addition to providing delegates with access to some of the leading experts in the industry, Arabian Travel Market will also provide a platform for experts to connect and establish meaningful collaborations that could help drive the industry forward.

“ATM is a crucial event that will help to drive further change in the global travel and tourism industry, and as a thought leadership platform, The Resilience Council is proud to partner with organisers RXGlobal to deliver valuable content and offer a platform to those who can share their experiences with clarity and insight.”

She added: “With access to insightful talks from pioneering thought leaders, attendees will come away with a better understanding of how to make their businesses, destinations and practices more sustainable, while also networking with the industry’s most influential representatives to bring about tangible change.”
