Singapore Airlines Group hits 71% of pre-pandemic capacity

Singapore Airlines Group continued to see strong travel demand last month as capacity doubled to hit 71% of pre-pandemic levels.

The October performance of SIA and budget arm Scoot was boosted by the Australia and New Zealand spring school break and the relaxation of travel restrictions to Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan.

The two airlines collectively carried almost 2.3 million passengers, up 6.2% from the previous month as group passenger capacity rose by 4.9%.

Capacity was up 109.7% year-on-year to reach 71% of pre-Covid-19  levels during the month.

The passenger load factor came in at 86.4% in October, marginally lower by 0.6 percentage points on a month-on-month basis, but 66.5 percentage points higher on a year-on-year basis.

The group’s passenger network covered 109 destinations at the end of October.

SIA resumed flights to Chengdu and Xiamen in China.

Scoot re-introduced flights to several points in Indonesia – Lombok, Makassar, Pekanbaru, and Yogyakarta – and to Hangzhou, Wuhan and Zhengzhou in mainland China.
