Virgin Atlantic employees no longer need to cover their tattoos up while in uniform after a policy change at the airline.
The company has altered its policy which, until today (May 31), required any customer-facing employees with visible body art to cover it up with a long-sleeved shirt, plasters or make-up.
Virgin Atlantic added the caveat that face, neck and head tattoos must remain covered, but that the policy was under review and the airline “hoped” to change it soon.

Estelle Hollingsworth, chief people officer, said: “At Virgin Atlantic we want everyone to be themselves and know that they belong.
“Many people use tattoos to express their unique identities and our customer-facing and uniformed colleagues should not be excluded from doing so if they choose.
“That’s why, in line with our focus on inclusion and championing individuality, we’re relaxing our tattoo restrictions for all our people.”
