Virgin Atlantic to resume direct flights to Cancun

Virgin Atlantic is set to resume direct flights between Heathrow and Cancun after a six-year break.

The service, which last ran in 2019, will operate three times a week from October 19, 2025, using the airline’s newest aircraft, the Airbus A350-1000.

Virgin Atlantic chief commercial officer Juha Jarvinen said: “We’re delighted to be returning to Cancun, offering customers a new destination for some winter sun.”

The route, which will be the only direct service between Heathrow and Cancun, will allow onward connections with Virgin Atlantic’s SkyTeam partner Aeromexico and codeshare partner Latam.

Andrés Martínez, director of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo, said: “In this new era of the Mexican Caribbean, expanding international connectivity has been a top priority as travellers continue to showcase strong interest in exploring our 12 iconic destinations and rich Mayan culture.

“The addition of this Virgin Atlantic flight from Heathrow to Cancun will further strengthen Cancun International Airport’s position as one of the most in-demand airports in the world, and we look forward to welcoming new and returning visitors from the UK to our paradise.”

The A350-1000 aircraft offers 16 Upper Class, 56 Premium and 325 Economy Delight, Classic and Light seats, as well as Upper Class social space ‘The Booth’.
