Adventure specialist Wild Frontiers appoints Clare Tobin as MD to drive growth

Adventure travel operator Wild Frontiers has appointed Clare Tobin as the company’s new managing director to help drive further growth.

The company described her as a “well-known and highly respected leader within the travel industry for over 20 years”, having held several executive board positions at First Choice/Tui and Olympic Holidays.

“She honed her strategic acumen, digital expertise, commercial and leadership skills within the Tui specialist sector, having managed brands including Jetsave Touring, Hayes and Jarvis, Austravel, Sovereign Holidays and the Education Division,” said the statement from Wild Frontiers, which is a member of Aito, The Specialist Travel Association.

“Most notably, Clare led a transformative strategic shift during her tenure as CEO at Olympic Holidays that revolutionised the business model and positioned the company as a specialist within the industry, leading to her winning the prestigious IBM’s Leader of Change – Women in Travel award.

“Aside from her transformative work, her contributions to the travel industry include innovative start-up projects such as Biblio Travel, consulting at Audley Travel and her work as chair at Seable, a unique tour operator catering for visually impaired travellers.”

Jonny Bealby, founder and former chief executive at Wild Frontiers, is now moving to the role of executive chairman.

He said: “With our increasing global audience, I believe Wild Frontiers has enormous potential.

“Having survived the pandemic we have bounced back even stronger, with a talented and passionate team.

“We have clear and stronger environmental and sustainable policies, and are taking more clients to more exciting destinations – like Uzbekistan, Algeria, Georgia, Pakistan and Guatemala – than ever before.

“I believe that Clare is the right person to continue this growth. With all her experience of leading travel companies, we feel this is a great appointment that will take the company to new heights.”

Tobin added: “Wild Frontiers is a well-regarded, innovative adventure travel brand with a unique ethos and great heritage.

“The strong sustainability ethos and immersive travel experiences provide a unique product offering where I feel, with this amazing and talented team, we can continue to challenge perceptions, inspire connections, and create unforgettable adventures for the global market.”
