Agents invited to attend trade programme at Lata Expo in June

The Latin American Travel Association has invited frontline travel agents to take part in a trade programme during its Lata Expo event in London next month.

The Lata Expo agent programme will take place from 4pm-6pm on Wednesday, June 21, and will feature tourism boards and tour operators in an interactive session followed by an evening networking event.

Among the tourist boards participating in this year’s event is Ecuador, which is showcasing its gastronomic offering with a Taste of Ecuador evening event and a dedicated coffee shop at the Battersea Evolution venue.

The activity forms part of the south American destination’s promotion of its ‘Ecuador, the Origin of Cocoa’ trademark.

Tourism minister Neils Olsen Peet said: “Gastronomy is a fundamental part of what we have to offer as a tourist destination, which is why we are actively working to promote the products and flavours that define us as a country and the reason why trade shows such as Lata Expo are so vital.

“Not only do we hope to educate attendees around iconic delicacies and products such as cocoa, we also want to provide a glimpse into our ancestors’ culinary traditions, recipes and flavours first-hand, giving way for a wider appreciation and understanding of Ecuadorean gastronomy amongst tourists today.”

Lata Expo, which takes place from June 19-21, is the largest B2B event in Europe aimed at promoting the Latin American region and its tourism offering.

Agents interested in attending the session on June 21 can register at https://lataexpo.travel/travel-agents/.
