Barrhead Travel has claimed it has turned Instagram into a “serious platform” for driving sales.
The agency had been aiming to amass 100,000 Instagram followers by the end of this year, but sales and marketing director Nicki Tempest-Mitchell said that figure had been surpassed in August.
She suggested the platform was allowing the business to tap into a new “vast and growing” audience and described it as a “viable way to generate significant revenue growth”.
“This is only the beginning of our social success,” she said, adding: “I can safely say the social side of the business is ready to thrive in 2025.”
A social media sales team was created last year and tasked with converting enquiries into bookings.
Tempest-Mitchell said the results had been “extraordinary”, with bookings across social media channels growing by 105%.
“We now have the fantastic opportunity to utilise Instagram as a serious platform while continuing to drive and share engaging content,” she added.
The details were shared at Barrhead Travel’s annual conference, held in Ibiza this year.
