LGBTQ+ holiday specialist Chillimix has unveiled a television advert as part of its ‘Free to be you, proud to be you, safe to be you’ campaign.
The operator, which only offers trips to “LGBTQ+ safe destinations”, launched the 34-second advert with ITV Hub and screened it at Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester airports in the hope of targeting LGBTQ+ travellers.
Head of trade Nicky Yates said the campaign has “absolutely increased the demand from UK trade – everyone wants to know about Chillimix and it’s just incredible”.

Scott Tyrer, head of operations, said finding “real-life models” was the biggest challenge in creating the advert, as this was key to maintaining the brand’s integrity.
“It was important to us that we used real people, not models. The essence of Chillimix had to shine through so it was incredibly important that we represented the entire LGBTQ+ community with real people.
“We sourced our models through friends, staff, friends of friends and the UK travel trade.”
Managing director David McDonald said: “We are all very passionate that the Chillimix advertisement should be a celebration of travel and the LGBTQ+ community.”
