UK destination marketing specialist Rachel McQueen has joined Destination Canada as the tourist board’s new UK managing director.
McQueen has more than 20 years’ experience of international destination marketing at city level with Manchester and at national level working alongside Visit England and Visit Britain.
Prior to joining Destination Canada she was chief executive of Marketing Lancashire, and previously delivered marketing campaigns in partnership with Manchester United and Manchester City football clubs.
In her new role she will lead Destination Canada’s UK market strategy and plans to drive growth from the market.
McQueen said: “I am delighted to be joining the team at Destination Canada. Their entire approach to regenerative tourism, to nurturing a hosting economy that benefits both Canadians and their guests, as well as their environment, is inspirational.
“Canada is an amazing country: vast, diverse, utterly stunning. It has so much to offer UK travellers, and I am really looking forward to working with our partners to make Canada the UK’s number one destination of choice.”
Maureen Riley, vice-president, international, for Destination Canada, added: “We are excited to have [McQueen] on board and look forward to achieving new milestones together.”
