Destinations Desired created as homeworking offshoot from Kosmar

Destinations Desired has been created as a new travel homeworking company offshoot from Kosmar.

The roots for the inception of the company date back to 2018 when Kosmar introduced an in-house homeworking agency.

Kosmar will now solely operate as an OTA and as an entirely separate business.

Destinations Desired was soft-launched earlier this year with existing tailor-made experts migrating from Kosmar and is targeting 250 franchisees by 2030.

Managing Director Jhy Worsnop-Hesford said: “While we faced challenges in the pandemic like other travel companies, we saw it as an opportunity to reinvent how we do business.

“Kosmar was an OTA focused on mainstream beach destinations in return for low margins.

“However, we quickly learnt bookings through our homeworking division had higher basket values and more complex itineraries. So we knew we had to invest and innovate in this high-growth area.

“The downtime in the pandemic allowed us to create two businesses with two different clientele and different marketing strategies.”

He added: “We deliberately wanted to launch Destinations Desired officially after summer.

“We knew it would be a summer that saw increased disruption as the industry scaled back up. So it was an excellent opportunity to try all the processes and systems we have in place for disruption.”

Recruitment and training managers Hayley Jones and Louise Goodlad aim to recruit more than 250 franchisees by the end of the decade.

Destinations Desired is a member of the Travel Trust Association operating a trust account and providing Atol solutions for tailor-made bookings, according to the Sheffield-based company.

Goodlad said: “We’ve got an inspiring solution to offer at Destinations Desired. We don’t charge any application, joining or annual fees. It’s just a low monthly cost in line with the market at £49.

“In addition, we’re offering an industry-leading 85% commission on the profit a tailor-made expert generates.”

Jones added: ”We’ve seen the homeworking division at Kosmar that was once a small part of a business turn into its entity with its marketing strategy and dedicated team. The innovation over the pandemic was genuinely inspiring.

“Destinations Desired are proud to offer a solution that has no application, joining or annual fees to experienced travel professionals. Instead, Destinations Desired charges a low monthly management fee of £49.”
