Escorted tour operator Great Rail Journeys has unveiled four new holidays for 2021, including a tour of Italy and Switzerland and three river cruises.
The Lakes and Mountains of Switzerland and Italy tour includes railway trips to visit Lucerne, Como and Garda and a trip on Europe’s highest mountain railway – the Bernina Express. Clients on the 12-day holiday can also travel by train past the vineyards of Lake Geneva and take a scenic boat journey to explore Villa Balbianello.
It costs from £2,895 which includes 11 nights’ hotel accommodation and travel by Eurostar.
The Glacier Express and Danube Cruise holiday features a trip on the Glacier Express in the Swiss Alps followed by a seven-night cruise along the Danube.
It costs from £3,195 which includes five nights’ hotel accommodation, seven nights on the river cruise and travel by Eurostar.
Another holiday also features a river cruise: Loire Valley & Seine Cruise in France.
Clients can explore famous chateaux before joining a scenic cruise along the river Seine.
It costs from £2,195 including three nights’ hotel accommodation in Blois, six nights on board the MS Renoir and travel by Eurostar.
A river cruise by barge, which accommodates 22 passengers, is featured in Waterways of the Yonne, Paris and The Petite Seine.
The itinerary includes the Seine and its tributaries, visits to Fontainebleau and Vicomte, and the canals of Paris (pictured).
