Latin Routes sees ‘unprecedented demand’ for Costa Rica

Latin Routes has reported an “unprecedented surge” of agent bookings and enquiries for holidays in Costa Rica following the relaxation of travel rules for vaccinated holidaymakers.

The Latin America specialist said enquiries for the destination are 120% higher this month than in January 2020.

It is now advising agents to encourage their clients to think beyond the summer 2022 season to secure better rates and availability because of the demand and ongoing challenges with flights availability.

Gaynor Atherton, senior business development manager, commented: “After almost two years of a devastating pandemic, we couldn’t be happier to see the incredible uptick on enquiries and bookings for South America and more specifically to Costa Rica that remains one of our main destinations.

“Due to the combination of high demand and availability challenges we are now encouraging our partners to offer Costa Rica beyond the summer 2022 season to secure better options for their clients.”

Jess Dennison, head of trade relations, added: “We were hoping for a fantastic uptick on enquiries for January and it’s beyond exciting that this peak season is proving so buoyant for Latin America.

“As the absolute specialists in Latin America, we constantly advise our agents partners on how to maximise their sales and are currently urging them to look for alternative dates and make the most of our Costa Rica groups tours with guaranteed departures from November 2022.

“As we finally move away from the pandemic, we want to make sure we are giving the upmost support to our trade partners who have been so loyal during the incredibly challenging two years we had and will continue to give our specialist advise to help them maximise their sales this peak season.”
