Disabled travel specialist Limitless Travel has designed a range of virtual tours for care home residents, who have been largely isolated during the pandemic.

The live tours are hosted on Zoom for groups of up to 100 people, who can watch a shared screen such as a TV in a care home living room or join from the privacy of their own room.

The interactive sessions with local expert guides cost £125 for a 1.5 hour-long experience.

There are 17 options including UK destinations such as the Cotswolds and ‘Peaky Blinders’ locations in Birmingham.

Overseas options include a Leonardo Da Vinci art tour by a professor in Milan; a tour of Prague hosted by a 17th century night watchman; and a tour of Paris to learn about sites such as the post-fire Notre Dame Cathedral and the Louvre Museum.

Angus Drummond, Limitless Travel’s founder and chief executive, said: “Travel doesn’t just offer the change of scenery that we’re all yearning for; travel has the power to benefit our mental health.

“Our new virtual tours do just that by giving care home residents something to look forward to, interact with and talk about with family and friends afterwards.

“We’re delighted that, after a year of being at home and shielding, we’re now able to help our customers to feel the magic of travel again. It’s much needed after the anxiety and stress of the past year.”

Since its founding in 2017, Limitless has taken more than 1,000 people away on holiday.

For 2021, Limitless Travel has 70 tours planned for 1,500 passengers.
