Regent Holidays has launched a twin-centre holiday to Estonia, offering clients the chance to visit while Tartu is the European Capital of Culture in 2024.
The holiday visits the capital of Tallinn and Tartu, which is the second largest city in the Baltic state of Estonia.
Tartu 2024 will feature exhibitions, installations, music, dance, theatrical performances and community events.
The city is known as the country’s centre of learning, thanks to its university and scientific community, and reputation for hosting start-up businesses and the IT sector.
The surrounding region in the south of Estonia features countryside, forests and wetlands – and is home to the Indigenous Seto and Võro people as well as the Old Believers community, who are descendants of religious exiles who left Russia after facing persecution in the 1600s.
The European Capital of Culture programme will see 1,000 events throughout 2024, including architecture tours, street and contemporary art exhibitions, light installations and festival.
It will be the second time an Estonian city holds the European Capital of Culture title, following the success of capital city Tallinn in 2011.
Regent Holidays’ new six-day Tallinn and Tartu twin-centre city break costs from £865 based on two adults sharing.
It includes return flights from the UK to Tallinn, transfers, three nights in Tallinn at the Nordic Hotel Forum and two nights in Tartu at the Hotel Lydia on a B&B basis, plus return train or bus tickets from Tallinn to Tartu.
