Short-haul city breaks are the best-selling sector so far this year for Co-op Holidays, the in-house tour operator of the Your Co-op Travel agency chain.
Short-haul beach breaks are the second most-popular type of holiday, followed by long-haul city breaks.
Krakow in Poland (pictured) is the most popular location so far for 2024, knocking Reykjavik off the top spot for the first time in three years.
Malta is the second most-booked destination, followed by New York, Costa Blanca, Jersey, Reykjavik, Dublin, Amsterdam, Rome and Budapest.
Natalie Quiney, content and ecommerce manager at Co-op Holidays, said: “Given all city breaks have to offer, including delicious dining, attractions and historical sites, it isn’t surprising to see that holidaymakers are prioritising short-haul getaways to make the most of their annual leave and create memories with friends and family.
“At Co-op Holidays, we can help travellers tailor-make their perfect city break and experience more of destinations like Krakow through immersive and community-led adventures.”
Short-haul city breaks were also the most popular form of travel last year.
