Wet weather prompts surge in late bookings for Club Med

All-inclusive holiday provider Club Med has reported a surge in late bookings as rain-sodden Brits seek to escape the soggy UK summer.

The company said it saw a 146% sales increase during the week starting July 24, for departures in August and September, compared to the same week in 2022
The best-selling resorts were in Turkey, southern France and Spain.

Nicolas Bresch, UK, Ireland & Nordics managing director, said: “With July looking to end up being the wettest in the UK in over a decade, it is no wonder Brits have been thinking about a last-minute escape to warmer climates.

“Interestingly, the vast majority of the bookings were made on Monday and Friday – perhaps as people sought to kick-start their week or weekend with something to look forward to.

“The sun-guaranteed south coast of Turkey proved to be the most popular, with our resorts, Palmiye (near Antalya) and Bodrum Palmiye performing best, closely followed by Opio, our resort on the French Riviera and Marbella (pictured).

“With the UK’s weather forecast looking much of the same over the coming week, we are anticipating a few more people will be seeking out last minute deals – we don’t blame them.”

Club Med was not able to disclose the number of bookings for the periods being compared.
