APT sees ‘healthy’ rise in Asia river cruise bookings ahead of Vietnam reopening

APT has seen a “healthy” rise in Asia river cruise bookings ahead of Vietnam opening up to international tourists from tomorrow (Tuesday).

The increase followed the country announcing its reopening for international travellers a month ago following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Visitors to Vietnam will need a vaccine certificate and/or recovery documentation to enter.

Mekong River cruises are a key tourism draw and APT is deploying a new ship to the region and switching another to sister brand Travelmarvel.

Managing director Paul Melinis said: “As the number one river cruise company to Asia in terms of volume, Vietnam’s reopening is a very welcome progression.

“We have APT guests who have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get aboard our luxury new-build, Mekong Serenity, and Travelmarvel guests who can’t wait to experience an elevated product offering on the Mekong, thanks to the addition of the RV Apsara, which moves over from APT to the Travelmarvel brand and marks a new level of luxury for our customers who are seeking a more flexible holiday experience.”

Her added: “We have seen a very healthy upward booking trajectory for our Asia river cruises since the border announcement, and our teams are on hand to support agents with any queries that their customers may have about the quarantine and testing requirements that Vietnam will have in place.”
