Blue Bay Travel expands sales team to 24

Blue Bay Travel has expanded its sales team to 24 with the addition of six new recruits.

Four members of staff have been seconded from other departments in addition to two external hires.

Joining the business are Alayna Carrier, previously with Polka Dot Travel, and Laura Brookes, who returns to the company after spells with Tui and Cruise 118

Meanwhile, Kelsey Jenkinson and Brooke Smith have moved into the sales team from the customer service department, while Claire Malpass and Alicia Bebbington have been seconded from administration.

The appointment of four existing employees to the sales team is part of a scheme which gives staff the opportunity to try their hand as a personal travel advisor for an initial six-month period, to see if it suits them.

They can return to their original role if they decide it is not for them.

The secondment runs until September 30 and colleagues take part in a four-week training programme alongside the external new starters.

Chief executive Alistair Rowland said: “We’re excited to welcome Alayna to Blue Bay Travel and are delighted to have Laura back.

“It’s wonderful to have four colleagues join the sales team under the secondment scheme too.

“The scheme is designed to encourage talent from other departments to try their hand at sales, without having to commit to a permanent career-change.

“It provides the opportunity to learn something new about the business, add another string to their bow, and explore whether they might be better suited to a different role.

“The beauty of the secondment scheme is that, even if colleagues decide to return to their original role, they will receive a guaranteed salary increase to reflect their newly gained experience in sales.”
