Holidaymakers have been primarily booking Mediterranean beach breaks for the upcoming bank holiday weekend, according to Abta members.
Greek island Crete and Majorca in Spain’s Balearic Island are the most popular destinations, followed by fellow Mediterranean destinations Croatia, Malta, Rhodes (Greece) and Cyprus.
Abta says it’s not too late to book an overseas break this summer, and reported “great package deals still to be had”.
It said seven-night self-catering holidays in Crete with return transfers and flights departing on August 28 are available from £253 per person and three nights at self-catering apartments in Majorca, departing on August 28, can be booked from £242.
Abta is providing updated advice and information for holidaymakers travelling abroad this year under its Ready Steady Travel campaign, including a blog on testing for travel and answers to the most frequently asked questions about travelling during the pandemic.

As well as booking a package holiday through one of its members, Abta recommends holidaymakers travelling abroad this summer take out comprehensive travel insurance and regularly check Foreign Office travel advice for the country they intend to visit.
