Demand growing for culturally rich Egypt, specialist operator reports

High demand for winter bookings to Egypt is being fuelled by growing traveller confidence, cultural anniversaries and TV documentaries featuring the country.

The assertion came from Philip Breckner, commercial director at specialist operator Discover Egypt.

He said: “After the pandemic years people have an increased desire to travel and Egypt has sold exceptionally well for us this year.

“Forward bookings for 2023 are good and we’ve been able to package up prices up until May 2024, as a result which means people can plan ahead if Egypt is on their holiday bucket list.”

Breckner described Egypt as a “great value” destination with world-class sights and guaranteed winter sun.

Yea dded: “Egypt is one of the most fascinating countries in the world with ancient sights dating back thousands of years.

“As a destination it has benefited from high profile anniversaries such as the 100th anniversary of the discovery Tutankhamun’s Tomb this November, new discoveries such as the Avenue of Sphinxes which opened last year and TV such as the recent BBC Two programme Raiders of the Lost Past that have driven more business through travel agents’ doors.

“Next year sees the long-awaited opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza near Cairo which is expected to attract thousands of visitors to what will be one of the largest and most renowned museums in the world.”
