Expedition cruise line prepares second ship to enter service

Family-owned Scandinavian expeditions cruise operator Albatros Expeditions has doubled its fleet.

Ocean Albatros is to run its inaugural sailing to the Arctic in June, joining sister ship Ocean Victory.

The new 94-cabin vessel is set to sail to destinations in the northern hemisphere such as Svalbard, Jan Mayen, Greenland and Iceland in its maiden season.

The first voyage departs on June 15 from Longyearbyen on an eight-day itinerary to the Arctic landscapes of Svalbard carrying a team of expert guides and naturalists.

The two ships will then go on to operate in the Antarctic, including an extended 23-day Falklands and South Georgia itinerary including the South Sandwich Islands.
