Just A Drop plans ‘Back With A Splash’ fundraiser

UK water charity Just a Drop is inviting travel industry companies and professionals to join its fundraising initiative during World Health Week (April 4-10).

The event is called ‘Back With A Splash’ and will see colleagues in the industry, along with their family and friends, undertake a swim, cycle or walk along rivers, canals and inland waterways around the UK.

The event aims to raise money as well as awareness of the importance of clean water and Just A Drop’s sanitation and hygiene projects around the world.

Those taking part will commit to a certain amount of miles for their challenge and raising sponsorship money.

The charity will also be asking companies to donate £5 for each employee taking part.

Fiona Jeffery, Just a Drop founder and chief executive, said: “The past two years have been incredibly difficult for everyone in the travel industry.

“As we begin to see a light at the end of a very long tunnel, as industry professionals, we have the opportunity to re-set our goals and to embrace new, sustainable and more positive ways to conduct our business.

“We encourage our travel colleagues to come Back with a Splash and to support our efforts to make real improvements in the lives of individuals in the world’s most deprived communities.”

Travel companies can get involved by completing this form to pledge how many miles will be covered.

Participants can make a donation of £5 to take part via the campaign’s JustGiving page.

Companies can also create their own JustGiving Page for the event and encourage more staff to join.

• Meanwhile, My Booking Rewards has launched scheme allowing travel agents to convert booking rewards cash to make donations to Just a Drop.

My Booking Rewards is an online platform to help suppliers reward and train agents to become their ambassadors through rewards from cash to free night redemptions.

Darren Pearson, founder of My Booking Rewards, said: “We have long observed the great work of this charity and the value of such a simple resource, water, that we often take for granted. Sharing is caring and rewarding too.”
