Long stay trend driving Landal GreenParks UK summer bookings

Landal GreenParks UK says a trend for longer staycations in the southwest is driving summer sales.

The self-catering specialist, which added two new parks earlier this year in Cornwall and Lancashire, said bookings were up 24% year on year from the start of July to date.

It attributed this to the rise in longer duration bookings. It has enjoyed a 57% year on year increase in sales of 14-night stays in the southwest, with 60% of bookings for seven nights or more.

Landal GreenParks UK adds two new resorts to portfolio

In Cornwall, Landal Whalesborough Resort & Spa was introduced to the portfolio earlier this year, and new lodges were added at Landal Bude Coastal Resort and Landal Clowance to meet demand. Travel agents can book the park operator’s resorts through Hoseasons.

Landal GreenParks UK managing director Paul Hardingham said: “We are delighted to see such a strong start to the summer season.

“It’s clear from our data we are seeing real growth in holidaymakers looking for longer getaways during the summer period for two reasons. Guests are wanting to make the most of the time they spend with loved ones as well as use our resorts as a base to discover what the UK has to offer.”

The company has also reported a significant rise in bookings from outside the UK to the southwest region, with inbound visitors to the area up by 49% year on year this summer and now making up 15% of all bookings.

Resorts with a variety of onsite facilities have proved particularly popular with inbound visitors, of which 67% of holidaymakers are from the Netherlands and 15% of visitors are from Germany. Facilities include indoor swimming pools and restaurants.

As well as its new Cornwall resort, Landal GreenParks has added Landal Twin Lakes in The Lake District and Landal Hexham Lodges in Northumberland this year.
