MSC Seascape completes first sea trials ahead of December launch

MSC Seascape has completed its first “intensive systems tests at sea” during trials last week.

The multiple-day trial ran between August 17 and 20 ahead of the vessel’s delivery in late November.

MSC Seascape’s naming ceremony will take place in New York City at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal on December 7.

The fourth ship in the Seaside class will come into service in December, offering year-round cruises from Miami to the Caribbean.

The new ship will offer two different seven-night itineraries, either stopping at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve and Nassau in the Bahamas; Puerto Rico; the Dominican Republic, or at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve; Cozumel, Mexico; the Cayman Islands; and Jamaica.

Around 65% of MSC Seascape’s public spaces have been “completely reimagined versus the original Seaside prototype”, the line said.

There will be 7,567 square feet of dedicated kids’ space and 2,270 cabins with 12 different grades of onboard accommodation.

A glass-floored Bridge of Sighs will feature on deck 16 of MSC Seascape.
