Pata’s first in-person trade event to include careers advice

Pata UK & Ireland’s first in-person event is to offer agents the chance to discuss future career opportunities in the sector.

The UK and Ireland chapter of the Pacific Asia Travel Association is hosting its flagship event, Taste of Pata London 2021, on September 15 in partnership with Travel Uni. It will be the association’s first in-person event since the start of the pandemic.

A training and recruitment stand will be at the event for the first time where agents can talk to representatives from travel recruitment companies C&M Travel Recruitment and Platinum Travel Recruitment to get advice on career opportunities and how to grow their skills set.

Pata account director Matt McCausland said the event aimed to offer a fun, social night to learn about Asia-Pacific destinations and products as well as offer career help and advice to the trade.

He said: “After an incredibly difficult 18 months for the industry, we’re proud to partner with Travel Uni to offer career support to agents this year.”

He added: “We’re so excited to kick off our raft of 2021 in-person events next month with our agent favourite, Taste of Pata London, and as always, there will be games galore on the night plus some amazing prizes from fam trip places, accommodation stays to airline tickets, foody hampers and more.”

Also new this year will be a ‘chill out hour’ between 5pm and 6pm for agents who want to avoid the busier main event and practise social distancing. This will be strictly limited in numbers.

The event will be attended by 18 suppliers for agents to meet to learn more about the Asia Pacific region. They are: Macao Government Tourism Office; Taiwan Tourism Bureau; Hong Kong Tourism Board; Tourism Thailand; South Australia Tourism Commission; Tourism Western Australia; Tourism & Events Queensland; Destination New South Wales; Philippine Department of Tourism; Treehouse Villas; Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket; CV Villas; Centara; Malaysia Airlines; Hidden Doorways; Belmond; Discova; and Northern Territory.

Regional food and drinks will be offered on the night while a range of prizes and goody bags will be up for grabs. The bigger prizes include fam trips in Thailand and Taiwan; a stay at Treehouse Villas in Koh Yao Noi and at Dusit Thani, both in Thailand; Malaysia Airlines tickets; and an Australian-themed food and drink hamper.

The event takes place at Tanner Warehouse, 50 Bermondsey Street, London, SE1 3UD, and agents are being encouraged to sign up to attend the event on Pata’s website.
