Portman creates pan-European sports DMC

A new pan-European destination management company called Amaze as been created by the sports division of the Portman Travel Group

The business will specialise in providing destination management services within sports travel.

Amaze will sit alongside sister brands, Clarity Sport, sportsbreaks.com and the recently acquired Inspiresport, within the growing sports division at Portman.

Managing director Ralf Staheli, head of sports at Kuoni for more than 20 years, will lead a team of 15 across Europe with experience and expertise spanning multiple decades.

Amaze will work with the globe’s biggest and best sports teams and organisations across multiple professional sports, including football and rugby.

The new brand is expected to grow rapidly as a full return to sport and global travel continues globally.

Paul Hemingway, who heads the development of the sports businesses, said: “The launch of Amaze is a further exciting piece of the jigsaw and sees us jump straight into the leading position within destination management of professional sports teams across Europe.

“Under Ralf’s leadership, we’ve assembled a team unmatched in its field and a business that complements other businesses we have within our existing sports travel offering. It’s an understatement to say that  we’re creating  something truly unique and potentially unmatched on a global scale. It’s also a huge benefit to our existing partner clubs and organisations and one that should be extremely exciting to potential new partners across multiple sports and territories.”

Staheli added: ““We’ve been able to assemble a best in-class team with a footprint right across the continent and the level of expertise and capability within Amaze is unmatched.

“It’s an exciting day to finally be able to launch Amaze Destination Managed and to be part of the wider sports division within Portman. The opportunity to collaborate, is very exciting.”
