Shearings says airport delays fuelling demand for UK breaks

Shearings has credited airport disruption for further boosting demand for UK coach holidays this summer as it puts its 2023 domestic breaks on sale.

The UK coach operator revealed it plans to bring out more brand new UK tours for next year in the coming weeks as it anticipates the staycation trend will continue next year.

It has already launched a dedicated UK brochure featuring more than 200 tours, and bookings are now open for next year.

Leger Shearings Group’s head of retail sales Ashley Dellow said the current cancellations at UK airports were encouraging more people to book a UK break instead of flying abroad.

He said: “The recent air disruption has further fuelled the demand for UK coach holidays and whilst we kept adding capacity for this summer, places are filling fast.”

He urged travel agents to encourage customers to plan future UK breaks now as demand is likely to be high again next year.

“Making a booking early, with a low deposit, secures the first choice of date and tour, and allows more time to save for the holiday,” he added.

The 2023 programme includes a selection of firm favourites and breaks to suit a range of interests and budgets. They include a Scarborough Fair Collection tour, which features a collection of vintage cars, steam engines, and fairground rides, and an Eastbourne, Castles and Gardens tour, which includes visits to historic properties in Kent, including Hever Castle and Leeds Castle.

A five-day Sandringham Flower Show trip in 2023 leads in from £399, including accommodation with breakfast and evening meals while a five-day Great Yarmouth and the Beautiful Norfolk Broads Cruise starts at £349.
