Flight Centre appoints global MD for Corporate Traveller

Flight Centre Travel Group has appointed Tom Walley to the newly created role of global managing director of Corporate Traveller, which specialises in business travel for small to medium-size enterprises.

Walley joined the group more than two decades ago and has worked for the company’s corporate and leisure divisions in the UK and Australia.

He will retain his current position of general manager for Corporate Traveller in Australia. Previously the global oversight of Corporate Traveller sat within the brief of Chris Galanty, Corporate Travel chief executive.

Galanty said: “Tom is incredibly well-known across the business as he’s one of our most experienced senior leaders, and most importantly he’s led the Corporate Traveller business in both the UK and Australia so understands both the history and future vision for the brand.

“He has created a highly successful strategy in the Australian market over the last two years and he is determined to see Corporate Traveller become the global category leader in SME business travel.”

Corporate Traveller has 1,500 staff serving more than 16,000 customers in small to medium-size businesses around the world.

Melon – Corporate Traveller’s new travel management platform – is being introduced to markets across the world to help customers travel more easily.

Already available in North America, Melon will debut in other markets in the coming months.

Walley said: “We have an ambitious target of welcoming $1 billion of new customers in the 2023 financial year globally and there are three things that will help us achieve this goal – our people, the great service they provide, and our investment in technology.”
