Hays Travel sales managers aim to raise £5k for charity

Four teams of Hays Travel divisional and regional sales managers completed a walking challenge on Wednesday (October 4) to raise money for a mental health charity.

The 24 walkers followed routes ranging from 14 to 16 miles in their own areas, setting off with the aim of completing the challenge at the same time.

Together, they plan to raise £5,000 for the mental health charity Young Minds, whose vision is to have “a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health”.

Graeme Tolchard, divisional sales manager, said: “We decided to come together to fundraise because Young Minds’ message strongly resonates with us and with Hays Travel, given the continuous efforts in supporting young people through the Hays Travel Foundation.

“October 10 is World Mental Health Day, so we recognised the importance of this too.”

The walks totalled 360 miles, equal to the distance between Glasgow and London.

Laura Bunt, chief executive of Young Minds, said: “We’re facing a young people’s mental health emergency. But here at Young Minds, we’re facing it with hope and optimism.

“We believe in young people and their ability to change things for themselves and for each other. That’s why we aim to connect with as many young people as possible and the trusted adults around them, working with strength, determination, and heart to turn the tide on the young people’s mental health crisis.”
