Travel management company Inntel is celebrating its certification as a Certified B corporation.
The Essex-based TMC said it is one of the first travel management companies in the UK to receive the certification, which is verified by B Lab to meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, legal accountability and transparency.
B Corps are businesses that prioritise people and the planet alongside profit. The B stands for ‘benefit for all’.
To certify, an organisation must demonstrate high social and environmental performance by passing the rigorous B Impact Assessment (BIA) covering governance, workers, customers, community and the environment.
Inntel scored 94.3 on its BIA, significantly above the 80-point pass mark.
Douglas O’Neill, Inntel chief executive, said: “Receiving B Corp certification is a huge honour for all of us here at Inntel.
“This important milestone reflects the hard work of our teams and our dedication to social responsibility and sustainability.
“We take pride in minimising our environmental impact while providing exceptional service and innovative solutions to help our clients achieve their own sustainability goals.”
More than 8,000 businesses worldwide that have received B Corp certification, including travel companies such as Inside Travel Group, Not in the Guidebooks, HF Holidays, AE Expeditions, Pelorus, Intrepid Travel Group, Pura Aventura, Explore Worldwide, Exodus and the Travel Trade Consultancy.
Anna Snoep, Inntel director of operations and ESG, said: “Becoming a B Corp demonstrates our commitment to using our organisation as a force for good and creating positive impact for our people, clients, suppliers and within our industry.
“B Corp certification underlines our dedication to not just business success but to the wellbeing of our people, planet and community. Our work does not stop here, we look forward to continuing to contribute to a more sustainable future.”
