The finance director at Cheshire-based Inspire Europe has rallied a team of cyclists from across the county to tackle a cross-country ride to raise funds for charity.
Richard Buxton has recruited fellow fundraisers from friends and contacts as far north as Scotland and as far south as Bristol.
Taking place on May 19, the ride will follow a route from Whitby via York, where Family Fund is based, then back to Bramhall, Cheshire.
The team of 10 will cycle a total of 127 miles to raise money for Family Fund, the UK’s largest charity providing grants for families raising disabled and seriously ill children and young people.
Inspire has been supporting the charity since 2013 and in 2022 helped the charity deliver 150,000 grants.
Buxton said: “We have enjoyed a very special and successful relationship with Family Fund for the last 10 years and are very proud of the support we have shown to them and their beneficiaries.
“This challenge is about going above and beyond and pushing ourselves to the limit.
“I am delighted that we have managed to get this great team together to help raise further funds for a charity very close to our hearts.
“With the economic climate as it is, the team will be cycling to raise much needed funds for these special families who face challenges on a daily basis, and especially now with the rising cost of living.
“It’s sure to be a tough ride, but we are all up for it and I am truly grateful to the team for their support.”
The team comprises:Danny Schweiger, Lorna Crawford, Nick Groombridge , Fiona Ross, Mark Schweiger, Andy Bourne, Nikki Samuels, Sam Marland, Michael Ozon and Richard Buxton, supported on the day by Martin Girdwood.
The event has also been supported by Smart Currency Business, IDS Indata, RPG Accountants and PT Trustees.
