Homeworking agency InteleTravel reported it saw a 58% year on year increase in sales during May, as consumers continue to prioritise holidays despite the cost-of-living squeeze.
It has also seen average booking values increase by 14% to £1,500 over the same period.
The Mediterranean, particularly Spain, are the most popular destinations, but there has also been a “sharp” rise in cruise sales, said the agency.
It attributed this increase in luxury and mainstream cruise sales to its membership of trade body Clia and intensive training for agents.
Tricia Handley-Hughes, UK and Ireland managing director, said Inteletravel’s training programme gave agents confidence to upsell holidays.
She said: “Word is spreading amongst the supplier community that our agents are selling on par or above their average industry sales.
“We are also revamping our mandatory induction training so that new agents from outside the industry can better understand a complicated regulatory environment and sell with confidence.”
US-headquartered InteleTravel now has about 14,000 advisors in the UK and 500 in Ireland.
