Luxury lines offer Crystal Cruises customers alternatives

Luxury cruise lines are seeking to attract customers impacted by Crystal Cruises’ operations pause .

Crystal has suspended ocean and expedition sailings until April 29 and river cruises until the end of May after parent Genting Hong Kong filed for a winding-up petition.

Crystal’s UK GSA, Th Cruise Portfoio, last week stressed that Crystal ‘remains a live company’.

Scenic is offering Crystal customers up to £750 off ocean voyages and £550 off river cruises plus a reduced £200 deposit for river sailings.

Agents will receive an extra 2% commission on bookings “coming from existing Crystal Cruises guests”, Scenic said in an email to the trade last week.

Scenic’s director of trade sales, Joseph Grimley, wrote: “We hope that we can help in arriving at a mutually beneficial solution to this untimely event and, in doing so, create new and lasting relationships along the way.”

However, Travel Weekly understands that no Crystal customers have transferred bookings to Scenic so far.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises confirmed it was working with agents to “support” passengers booked on Crystal Serenity’s aborted 2022 World Cruise.

The line is offering affected Crystal passengers the choice of joining its Mariner vessel in Barbados, or one of two Miami-based ships Splendor or Explorer, this week.

“We look forward to welcoming these guests into our Regent family,” a spokesperson said.
