Marella Cruises has cancelled Marella Discovery 2’s upcoming sailing after a technical issue in the vessel’s catering area was identified.
The Tui-owned cruise line confirmed it had taken the “difficult decision” to axe the seven-day round-trip Pride of Panama cruise departing from Jamaica on Tuesday (January 31) so maintenance work could take place.
The 918-cabin ship is currently operating a week-long Flavours of the Caribbean cruise, which is due to finish tomorrow.

Marella said Marella Discovery 2’s scheduled sailing on February 7 is due to go ahead as planned.
“We understand how disappointing this will be and would like to apologise to our customers who have been impacted and thank them for their patience and understanding at this time,” a Marella Cruises spokesperson said.
“While the ship is currently able to deliver our full food and beverage offering to customers currently onboard, maintenance is required to take place that would impact the cruise due to depart Jamaica on Tuesday, January 31.”
The line added affected customers were being supported with their travel plans. “All customers impacted have been offered future holiday vouchers as a gesture of goodwill,” the spokesperson said.
