Independent business travel agency Munro’s Travel has secured more than £2 million worth of new business.
The disclosure came as the Aberdeen-based specialist for the energy and marine sectors reported a 25% rise in turnover in the last 12 months.
Five new contracts agreed in the last quarter will see Munro’s manage the offshore, renewable and marine travel, both onshore and offshore, for its new clients.
The new clients include Peterson Energy Logistics, which has more than 860 employees working globally; Dron and Dickson, specialists in integrated supply, installation and maintenance of harsh and hazardous area electrical equipment; marine technology firm Kraken Robotics; and energy consultancy Elemental Energies.
The firm, in its 120th year, has employed an additional 12 members of staff since January.
Investment in technology has seen the introduction of new online booking and expense management tools.
The management is also looking for a new office to house the team after the sale of the company’s Union Street premises in the Scottish city.
Munro’s Travel managing director Murray Burnett said: “Although the pandemic accelerated the move to more remote working, this was not a new concept for our team.
“Travel was probably the sector most advanced in homeworking terms; it’s been a standard way for travel firms to operate for decades.
“We’re currently looking at some exciting opportunities for our team of 60. Between our business development activities and a potential office move, 2024 look as if it will be an equally buoyant time for Munro’s as we enter our thirteenth decade in business.”
He added: “It is vitally important that we continue to invest in technology innovation to drive efficiencies within their travel programme and ultimately lowers costs whilst meeting compliance requirements. Our technology solutions ensure traveller safety and help companies reach their sustainability goals.
“But our clients don’t just want technology, they also want the human touch which is Munro’s Travel differentiator. Our team understands the challenges our clients face and the flexibility and speed which is required 24/7/365.”
