P&O Cruises diverts agent conference merchandise funds to make £10k charity donation

A £10,000 donation to Teenage Cancer Trust is being made by P&O Cruises as it diverts funds that would typically be spent on promotional items at agent conferences.

The line says it will further support the charity’s vital work with young people affected by cancer by choosing to scale back on branded giveaways and redirect the funds.

Reducing plastic branded and promotional merchandise from travel agent events will further reduce plastic waste, while supporting Teenage Cancer Trust, according to the company.

P&O Cruises hopes to raise £1 million by the end of next year to mark the tenth anniversary of its partnership Teenage Cancer Trust. 

 Sales director Ruth Venn said: “Travel agent conferences are fundamental in our travel agent training and engagement plans, and we welcome the opportunity to speak with hundreds of agents over the coming months. 

“We are reducing the distribution of branded merchandise, and we are confident agents will support us in this decision. 

“We are so proud to be coming into our tenth year of supporting the incredible work undertaken by Teenage Cancer Trust so there couldn’t be a better time for us to redirect funds. 

“The best takeaways from travel agent conference season are the ideas shared and the relationships built, and we encourage agents to talk to us more now than ever before.”

Teenage Cancer Trust senior partnership manager Fern West added: “We are incredibly grateful to P&O Cruises colleagues and guests for their generous donation which will continue to enable us to support teenagers and young adults who have cancer. 

“We are proud of our partnership with P&O Cruises and what we have achieved together over the years and we are looking forward to working with them in the future.”
