Spanish home ports announced for Marella Discovery 2

Marella Cruises will homeport Marella Discovery 2 in Malaga, Spain, from November 7 for a series of winter sailings.

The ship will homeport from Tenerife and Gran Canaria from December to March 2025, then it will port in Limassol, Cyprus, for summer 2025.

These itineraries will be on sale from Thursday (May 23) and customers can fly from a range of UK airports to Malaga, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Cyprus.

The homeport of Malaga will offer sailings on two itineraries.

Spanish Flavours, departing on November 7, calls at Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Valencia, Cartegena, Gibraltar and Malaga.

Sights and Delights departs from November 14, and visits Lisbon, Portugal, Cadiz, Casablanca, Cartagena, Motril and Malaga.

Two new itineraries will be available from Tenerife.

Winter Escape, departing on November 28, calls at Malaga, Gibraltar, Cadiz, Gran Canaria and Tenerife.

Sail into Spring, departing on March 24, 2025, will visit Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Cartagena, Malta and Limassol, Cyprus.

The cruise line will also feature 100 hotels for its cruise-and-stay options for the winter season.

Chris Hackney, managing director of cruise for Tui UK and Ireland, said: “We know guests love the beautiful Canaries and Madeira and, as Marella Cruises is part of Tui, we are able to offer incredible experiences ashore with our destination teams as well as a great onboard experience too.

“We do appreciate how disappointing it was to those customers who were impacted by the cancellation of our Asia programme on Marella Discovery 2, but we are confident with the breadth of programme we have to offer something different to our customers.”

Marella Cruises announced last month that it had cancelled its 2024-25 Asia and Middle East programme because of the ongoing conflict in the Red Sea.

The line said it was a “difficult decision” to cancel the sailings scheduled to depart between November 1 and April 30, 2025, but it has done so “for the safety of our customers and crew”.
