The Travel Snob becomes sponsor of Miss Great Britain

The Travel Snob’s David Walker will give vouchers to the winners of Miss Great Britain 2023 after becoming a sponsor of the competition.

Walker contributed £1,500 after being approached by organiser Matt Elliott, who has been a regular client.

Nottingham-based homeworker Walker said: “I don’t advertise and I don’t need to, but I thought I’d give it a go and support someone who’s supported me for the past nine years.”

Half of Walker’s funding will go towards a £500 voucher for the winner of each of the three categories – Miss Great Britain, Ms Great Britain and Ms Great Britain Classic – while the rest of it secures Travel Snob’s status as a “silver sponsor”, Walker said.

He added that the silver sponsorship will give him the option of putting brochures on the tables at the ceremony in Leicester in October, which he plans to attend.

In the meantime, however, the Travel Snob logo will be shared on social media as part of Miss Great Britain’s promotional activity.

Walker said: “When I look at the contestants, they’re all Instagram-mad so I figured they would promote me themselves.”

Before agreeing to become a sponsor, Walker sought advice from colleagues in the travel industry.

“I rang some female colleagues for their view and no one found it [Miss Great Britain] derogatory towards women, because it’s cleaned itself up a lot,” Walker said.

Most of The Travel Snob’s bookings come from recommendations and regular clients, Walker said, with the repeat business rate being around 87%.

In July, Walker was named Leisure Agent of the Year at Travel Weekly’s Agent Achievement Awards. The Travel Snob is a homeworking business under the Not Just Travel franchise.
