Travel Counsellors reports ‘significant’ sales growth

Homeworking agency Travel Counsellors reported “significant” sales growth for the second quarter of its financial year.

Group sales reached £270 million for the February to April period, an increase of 13% year on year, representing the company’s best-ever second quarter.

It has now achieved 13 consecutive quarters of double-digit growth and total sales during the past rolling 12 months have reached £977 million.

Travel Counsellors said its business model and in-house booking platform, Phenix, are “instrumental” in this growth.

More than half (51%) of the company’s business owners adopted Phenix in the last quarter, with 61% now using TC Teams, supporting collaborative efforts to manage complex, multi-destination itineraries.

The integration of TC Journeys and the acquisition of Planisto have also helped agents with tailormade bookings.

Additionally, the company reported a record rise in new business owners, with 76 new business owners recruited in the last quarter, a 10% increase on the same period last year. There were 32 new starters in April alone.

The most sought-after holidays include cruises and experiential travel to southeast Asia, Japan, South America, Sri Lanka and Canada.

Steve Byrne, chief executive at Travel Counsellors, said: “These sales underscore the dedication and hard work of our community, rooted in the fundamentals of care and how we look after our customers, our Travel Counsellors and our support team colleagues.

“Our TCs’ unwavering commitment to delivering the very best high-touch personal service combined with the very best technology is at the heart of our success.

“It is also brilliant to see that our new business owners are embracing the various options and opportunities open to them in terms of building their business.

“We have significant scope to grow within each market we operate in.”
