Westoe Travel backs charity game to remember victims of Manchester Arena bombing

A celebrity charity football match is being staged on the fifth anniversary of the Manchester Arena bombing which killed travel agent Chloe Rutherford and her boyfriend Liam Curry.

The couple were among 22 people who lost their lives in the atrocity.

Chloe Rutherford was an apprentice at Westoe Travel in South Shields.

As much as £100,000 is hoped to be raised from the game, featuring a team of celebrities including comedian Jason Manford, soap stars, DJs and musicians playing against ex-professional players such as Paul Merson, Matt Le Tissier and Keith Gillespie.

Proceeds from the game featuring celebrities and football legends will be divided between five charities set up by families who lost loved ones in the bombing, including The Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust.

The parents of Chloe and Liam established the trust as their legacy to support young people to achieve their potential in sport and performance. More than 200 youngsters have been supported so far.

The Football Legends v Celebrities match on April 3 kicks off at 3pm at Manchester City’s Academy ground in Manchester.

Westoe Travel has organised a coach from South Shields to the game.

Westoe Travel director Graeme Brett said: “Chloe and Liam were really popular in South Shields and there was great interest  in the town to attend the game.

“We have a full coach going to what promises to be a very entertaining day and hopes to raise £100,000 for the charities.”

Tickets for the game are priced at £20 for adults, with concessions available at £10, available online at:
