Hoseasons has reported a 13% rise in peak summer bookings made in June compared to the same month last year with a shift towards high-end accommodation.
Luxury lodge bookings rose 21%, while those for boutique self-catering accommodation with hot tubs increased by 25% year-on-year.
The increasing trend for quality was also evident in peak bookings through the property rental giant, cottages.com which saw sales of its luxury range up by 49% and bookings for properties with hot tubs rise by 35%.
The south-west continues to be the best-performing region for Hoseasons, with peak summer bookings made last month up 21% compared to June 2016.
North Yorkshire, Northumberland and north Norfolk were the best-selling areas for cottages.com over the same period, with bookings for north Yorkshire up 37%.
Simon Altham, managing director – revenue, for Hoseasons and cottages.com parent company Wyndham Vacation Rentals UK, believes continued uncertainty surrounding Brexit and the falling value of the pound may have contributed to the surge in demand for better quality UK breaks this summer.
“In times of uncertainty, getting value for money is at the forefront of consumers’ minds,” he said.
“Hardworking Brits might be feeling the pinch, but they don’t want to compromise on quality when it comes to their well-earned breaks.
“High-end lodge and luxury cottage properties offer those looking to enjoy the finer things a perfect break away, without having to break the bank.”
