Virgin Voyages signs €700 million contract for fourth ship

A fourth ship is to be built for start-up line Virgin Voyages at a cost of €700 million.

Italian ship yard Fincantieri confirmed that a contract had been signed for the new vessel, due to be delivered at the end of 2023.

The 2,770-passenger vessel will be sister to three ships already ordered by the company with Fincantieri.

The first three ships will enter Virgin Voyage’s fleet in 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectively.

The fourth vessel will be approximately 110,000 gross tons with 1,400 cabins.

Highlights include highly innovative design solutions, specifically to address energy recovery and the reduction of the overall environmental impact, according to the ship yard.

The ships will be equipped with an energy production system, which uses the diesel engine’s waste heat.
