Gale Carlill, co-founder and joint managing director of Worldwide Attractions, has died following a long illness.
Gale founded Worldwide Attractions in London in 2003 with business partner Claire Leroux, who said: “Gale was not only my business partner for 16 years, but also my closest friend.
“She will be immensely missed by colleagues, clients and all her friends in the travel industry.”
“Gale was an exceptional person who touched so many people with her thoughtfulness, intelligence and professionalism.”
Leroux added: “Gale’s professionalism and drive to get business for her clients were second to none, but we also had so much fun along the way.”
Worldwide Attractions handles B2B sales and marketing for tourist attractions, tours, destinations, hotels and tourism services.
A former business colleague said: “My company would not be where it is today if not for Gale’s brilliance, intellect, industry knowledge and tact.
“Gale always knew what to say, how to say it and when to say it. I learned a tremendous amount from working with her.”
Another former colleague said: “She was an extremely lovely, intelligent, heart-warming person with a passion for her job like no other. She will be fondly remembered always.”
Carlill worked for UK Travel Services in London for five years, working with the North American travel trade, before setting up Worldwide Attractions.
She died on March 20 after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
