Jet2 boosts Scottish summer capacity

Jet2 and Jet2holidays are raising capacity from Glasgow airport by an extra 300,000 seats over last summer.

The increase means that more than 1.3 million seats to 34 destinations are available from the Scottish airport for summer 2020.

Additional flights have been added to the Balearic and Canary Islands, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Bulgaria between mid-June and mid-July.

These include Majorca, Menorca, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Malaga, Alicante, Corfu, Crete, Dalaman, Antalya, Faro and Bourgas.

Costa de Almeria and Krakow have been introduced as new destinations from Glasgow.

The company will operate 220 weekly flights from the airport as a result of the expansion.

Chief executive Steve Heapy said: “This expanded programme has come in response to the continued demand for our award-winning flights and holidays from customers in Glasgow and Scotland.

“Over 300,000 additional seats, additional aircraft, and two brand new destinations represents significant growth at Glasgow airport, and we are delighted to be offering holidaymakers so much choice and flexibility.”

Airport managing director Mark Johnston added: “Jet2.com’s decision to introduce an additional aircraft during our peak season is tremendous.

“There continues to be huge demand for our most popular sun destinations and the 20,000 extra seats this aircraft brings will be welcome news for our customers looking to book their summer 2020 holidays.”
