New acts added to Iona music festival at sea

New acts have been added to the summer music festival at sea on board new P&O Cruises’ ship Iona.

Irish band The Script and Pixie Lott have joined the line-up for Ionafest in July.

They join Grammy award winners Clean Bandit and DJs including four-time MOBO winner Trevor Nelson; Blur’s Alex James and BBC Radio 2 presenter Jo Whiley.

The Norwegian fjords cruise on July 4 will begin with a naming celebration for the 5,200-passenger new ship, include a performance from P&O Cruises’ new brand ambassador Gary Barlow.

Further entertainment includes dance group Diversity, headed by choreographer and dancer Ashley Banjo, together with with stars from Strictly Come Dancing, including comedian Chris Ramsey, judge Motsi Mabuse and professional dancers Amy Dowden and Ben Jones.

Other entertainment over the week will include a silent disco, live screenings and aerial displays in the ship’s SkyDome.

Cruise prices start at £749 for the seven-day itinerary which includes calls into Olden, Geiranger and Bergen.

P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “We are breaking new ground on Iona, with some of today’s biggest music artists performing at Ionafest.
