BRITANNIC Travel has launched a facility to give its corporate travellers cheap access to e-mails when they are abroad.
Called Global Internet Roaming, Britannic claims the service will reduce the cost of laptop connection by 70%-80%.
Normally, when someone wants to access their e-mails, they make an international call from a hotel, office or through a calling card, which connects them to their own Internet service provider back in the UK.
GIR cuts out the international connection and instead allows users to connect to the Internet at the cost of a local call.
A Britannic spokeswoman said:”As a result of cutting out the international connection and using the GIR network, savings of between 70%-80% can be made compared to modem banks, long-distance and toll-free numbers.
“Clients simply pay for call charges only. There is no registration, monthly fee or minimum usage.”
