Today (Friday, September 6) is expected to be the busiest day for departures at UK airports since October 2019.
A total of 3,261 flights are scheduled to depart, equating to more than half a million seats, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium.
Departure numbers are almost 4% higher than the equivalent day in 2023, with scheduled departures set to reach 91% of 2019 levels.

Heathrow will have the largest number of departures, followed by Gatwick, Manchester, Stansted and Edinburgh.
The most popular international destinations for UK departures are projected to be Amsterdam, Dublin, Alicante, Paris and Faro, while easyJet is projected to be the busiest airline over the weekend, followed by British Airways and Ryanair.
